Official Election Results

According to the official results from the Ministry of Interior of Congo, the Congolese people elected His Excellency Denis Sassou Nguesso as President of the Republic of Congo on Sunday, March 10, 2002 by 89.41 % of the vote, with a participation rate of 74.70 %.

The official results are as follow:

The vote rate is 69.36 %. His Excellency Denis Sassou Nguesso was elected with 1.075.247 of vote expressed in his favor, out of 1.295.319 voters. The results for all the candidates are as follow:

The Embassy would like to emphasize the fact that according to international observers who supervised the election, it was held freely, fairly and in total transparency, and also, these official results of the election of Mr. Denis Sassou Nguesso as Head of State of the Republic of Congo, slow that the Congolese people wants from now on, a long lasting peace, security, national unity, reconstruction of the Country, good governance and market economy as promised by President Denis Sassou Nguesso during him campaign.

The said results will be submitted to the Supreme Court in the next coming days for final approval.
